This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, which includes the ability to work from home, while also requiring to be in person as needed at our Lakeside and/or Clayton Corporate HQ campus locations in St. Louis, Missouri.

Responsibilities

The Renter Solutions department has an exciting opportunity for an Senior Test Automation Engineer. The Renter Solutions department is responsible for the retention and maintenance of driver and loyalty profile information for Enterprise Mobility customers, and making this data securely available to other services, solutions, and third-party vendors. Renter Solutions applications are critical to the rental booking and fulfillment processes across our operations globally. We work closely with our business stakeholders from around the globe, for all our brands, to make enhancements to our applications and to stay ahead in our ever-evolving global operations. This is an exciting time to join the Renter Solutions team as our roadmap includes API evolution and modernization of our driver and loyalty programs, in addition to supporting business capabilities around core pillars of our company strategy. 

 

As an Senior Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in both manual and automated testing, responsible for ensuring software quality throughout the development lifecycle. This role involves analyzing requirements, designing, and executing manual test plans and test cases, identifying and tracking defects, performing root cause analysis, and coordinating retesting efforts to validate fixes. Additionally, the position focuses on developing, maintaining, and executing automated test scripts, expanding automation coverage, troubleshooting automation issues, and contributing to automation strategy and framework improvements. Working closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, you will participate in sprint planning, provide effort estimates, support code reviews, and drive continuous quality improvements to deliver reliable, high-quality software products.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyze business and technical requirements to develop test strategies, create test schedules, provide effort estimates, and define comprehensive test cases.
  • Participate in design and requirements review sessions to ensure quality considerations are incorporated early in the development lifecycle.
  • Create, maintain, and execute detailed manual test plans and test scenarios based on functional and technical requirements.
  • Perform manual testing including functional, integration, database, regression, and exploratory testing within an Agile environment.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for both API/Web Services and UI testing.
  • Validate application functionality, identify defects, document test results, and assess associated risks.
  • Manage defects throughout their lifecycle, working closely with development teams to analyze root causes and drive timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot issues, reproduce defects, and verify fixes to ensure software quality and stability.
  • Assist with or lead deployments to non-production environments and support testing activities across multiple environments.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional and cross-system teams to address integration testing challenges and ensure end-to-end system quality.
  • Provide recommendations to improve testing processes, automation coverage, application testability, and overall quality of deliverables.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, estimation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner and effectively interact with the application development team in test progress, risks, and defect resolution.
  • Ability to be flexible with changing priorities and requirements.
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate quality assurance test requirements to determine scope of functionality to be covered by the automated testing suite.
  • Must have the ability to effectively collaborate and work with others in a remote work environment.
  • Ability to test a multi-application suite with internal and external integration points.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with strong attention to detail

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Must reside in St. Louis, Missouri, or immediate surrounding area
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, executing, and maintaining automated test cases using tools like Karate
  • Experience with Manual API testing using tools like Postman
  • Experience writing and executing SQL queries for validation and testing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of source control methodologies and proficiency in tools such as Git or Bitbucket
  • Experience with working in an Agile/Scrum development environment in sprint teams, using tools such as Jira, Zephyr, and Confluence.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Hands-on experience with automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium and Playwright and BDD frameworks (e.g., Cucumber)
