This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, which includes the ability to work from home, while also requiring to be in person as needed at our Lakeside and/or Clayton Corporate HQ campus locations in St. Louis, Missouri.

Responsibilities

The Information Technology department of Enterprise Fleet Management builds and implements powerful solutions that drive and support the operations of our Fleet Management business across the U.S. and Canada. Enterprise Fleet Management owns and operates more than 500,000 cars and trucks. Here, we create and deliver leading-edge technologies and expansive systems that impact every aspect of our growing business. We provide the resources to enable and develop our more than 200 innovative IT professionals in a variety of career paths.

 

The IT Team supports a variety of applications related to client, leasing, financial, and employee needs. These applications run on platforms including Java/Oracle, Microsoft/SQL Server/.NET, PeopleSoft Financials, Oracle BI, and Salesforce. We are migrating to micro-services for key applications and executing our roadmap to move core applications to the cloud.

 

Enterprise Fleet Management IT has an exciting opportunity for an IT Manager to lead the team responsible for the management and utilization of developer productivity tools used to deliver our custom-built business applications. Tools such as Dynatrace, SonarQube, Artifactory, CI/CD pipeline tools, and the Atlassian Suite are examples of the technologies this team owns and manages. The successful candidate will be an integrator of people, processes, and technology, a problem solver, and an effective leader who can drive adoption, ensure operational excellence, and continuously improve our developer tools environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Execute the vision to build, maintain, and continuously improve development tools strategies and processes.
  • Provide direction to the development tools team responsible for application performance, monitoring, and adherence to established processes and standards.
  • Lead resource planning and allocation to support business objectives.
  • Manage expenses and forecasting for area of responsibility.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture that supports diversity and inclusion.
  • Communicate business goals and model company culture.
  • Collaborate with management and other teams to define and manage standards and processes in the development tools space.
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with external partners.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with IT and business leaders and serve as an escalation point for issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify pain points and deliver solutions that improve development speed, quality, and reliability.
  • Ensure tools and processes align with security, compliance, and operational best practices.
  • Recommend strategic solutions and processes that enhance adoption of development tools and technology.
  • Provide leadership in career planning/support, training, interviewing, hiring, rewarding, disciplining, and performance reviews.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices
  • Strong commitment to relationship building and influencing to successfully establish and grow this function within IT
  • Excellent communication skills, with strong leadership presence
  • Ability to ensure compliance with standards, processes, and procedures in daily responsibilities

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Must reside in St. Louis, Missouri, or immediate surrounding area.
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
  • 6+ years of related experience
  • 5+ years in software engineering or DevOps
  • 2+ years’ experience successfully managing people, including career planning/support, training, interviewing, hiring, rewarding, disciplining, and performance reviews
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices
  • Experience with developer tools (e.g., GitHub, SonarQube, Artifactory, Atlassian, Dynatrace, Cloudwatch) and managing tool lifecycles
  • Experience defining, developing, communicating, and implementing standards, processes, and procedures in a collaborative environment
  • Experience with strategic planning and forecasting
  • Experience determining scope of work, preparing assignments, and managing execution in a fast-paced, high-performance team
  • Experience managing technical projects, tasks, and schedules

Preferred:

  • Direct experience managing tools and individuals in the Development Tools space
  • Proven experience driving strategy and providing leadership in CI/CD pipelines and developer tools
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Background in improving developer experience at scale
  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
