Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Solution Architect in the IT Administration organization. The IT Administration is responsible for supporting Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Risk Management, Payment Services, Rental Billing and Sales & Marketing solutions. The organization supports custom built, commercial off the shelf, and software as a solution applications. 

 

The Lead Solution Architect in the IT Administration organization will be responsible for leading all architectural activities across the organization. This role will work closely with the Office of Architecture (OoA) to understand guidance and patterns set forth for the organization. They will be responsible for flowing the guidance to the different domains in the IT Administration organization. The Lead Solution Architect will communicate OoA guidance to the leadership team, solution architects and lead engineers across the organization. This role will work with the OoA on blueprinting exercises and setting patterns while raising items toe OoA for guidance. They will consult on development projects to implement architectural guidelines and patterns. This role will work closely with the IT Administration Lead Solution Architect for Governance, Security and Privacy.

 

You must maintain knowledge of emerging architectural methods and technologies in addition to knowledge of business strategy and security – and apply all of these to the solutions you design. You may also be asked to contribute to global IT architecture strategies. You will use your technical knowledge to define architecture that meets short and long-term requirements. You will be responsible for defining technical roadmaps and strategies that align with IT and Business needs. Finally, to be successful in this role, you will also need to provide instruction and guidance to team members and influence and partner with other technologists and leaders across the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Understands the global architectural patterns and guidance and articulates to the team, leadership and governance how multiple solution architectures or one highly complex solution architecture aligns to global guidance and patterns; ensures architecture aligns to guidance and patterns.
  • Gathers and identifies solution needs; performs risk analysis; defines architecture for multiple solutions or one highly complex solution; ensures continual sustainability of architecture; may assist in defining the architecture for line of business and across line of business solutions by providing subject matter. 
  • Collaborates with engineers and architects within the solution and other solutions that will be impacted; gathers input and feedback on solution design; ensures the solution implementation aligns to the architecture. 
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging architectural methods, technologies, and business for application to the environment; demonstrates transferable knowledge, skills, and behaviors allowing for movement to new solutions or lines of business. 
  • Develops architecture review documents for multiple solutions or highly complex solutions; represents solution in architecture review meetings when architectural designs do not align to policy and technology standards, costs or organization impact thresholds. 
  • Designs, develops and maintains complex solution architectures, documentation and processes across multiple solutions using knowledge of business strategy, security, technology methods, architectural methods, and global technology guidance and patterns. 
  • Protects our customers, our employees, and our brands by incorporating security and compliance in all decisions; ensures security policy and procedure requirements are met; continuously identifies opportunities for improving security and implements strategies to improve our security posture. 
  • Monitors the effectiveness of established service level agreements to manage customer expectations and quality standards; assists with defining new service level agreements in response to changing needs. 
  • Monitors task automation and implements process improvements; recommends enhancements that result in increased quality, efficiencies, and overall value to the IT organization; may also lead others through this process.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Must reside in the United States (does not include Alaska or Hawaii)
  • Must be able to work a schedule within U.S. Central Standard Time core business hours.
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
  • 8 or more years of relevant experience (designing and developing large scale applications)
  • Must have 3 or more years experience defining architectural considerations and collaborating with Engineers and other Architects on the direction for the development of solutions or enhancements
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills and the ability to effectively defend ideas and solutions; produce business relevant presentations, convey complex information in a manner that is easily understood and actionable to both non-technical and technical leaders
  • Professional experience identifying and gathering solution needs; performing risk analysis, defining architecture; acting and driving key stakeholder acceptance
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, build and foster relationships, including coaching and mentoring other architects, engineers, and business leaders
  • Proven ability to operate in a highly autonomous fashion, repeatedly exercises exceptional, independent judgment, balances strategic against tactical planning
  • Experience developing, documenting, and maintaining architectural blueprints
  • Must demonstrate flexibility and agility related to critical thinking and making decisions with complex considerations as it relates to business implications
  • Protects our customers, our employees, and our brands by incorporating security and compliance in all decisions; ensures security policy and procedure requirements are met; continuously identifies opportunities for improving security and implements strategies to improve our security posture
  • Subject matter expert in multiple areas of responsibility; represents team within and outside own department
  • Experience leading operational and strategic activities
  • Experience with Java
  • Experience with front-end development technologies like React framework
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture and micro services
  • Experience with large scale data processing using Big Data technologies like Spark, Hadoop, Databricks, HDFS, HBASE, etc.
  • Experience with cloud architectures and technologies like AWS and Azure
  • Ability to stay up to date on industry trends, products, applications, technical service, market conditions, and competitive activities

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Experience with moving applications to the cloud and working with implementing Software as a Service platforms
