As a member of the Splunk team, you will have the exciting opportunity to design, build and maintain the Splunk infrastructure for our internal Splunkers.  This is an invaluable service for our technology solution owners that allows them to manage and monitor for security threats as well as utilize Splunk for IT operations. 

Responsibilities

As an Engineer 2 you will be responsible for using your technical knowledge of professional concepts to solve business problems.  We are looking for a talented individual that can serve as a subject matter expert in their area of focus and represent their department on complex assignments.  You will be responsible for evaluating elements of technology’s effectiveness through requirements gathering, testing, research and investigation and make recommendations for improvements that result in increased quality and effectiveness.  You will be required to listen to and evaluate customer needs to determine and provide high quality solutions that align with customer expectations. Interpret end-user business requirements to develop and/or modify technical design specifications.

 

As an Engineer 2 on the Splunk team, you will be designing, developing, testing and supporting moderate to complex components within Splunk.  These include Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Enterprise Security, and Splunk Add-on Apps that constitute the EHI Splunk infrastructure.  Your daily activities may include, but are not limited to, end user support, troubleshooting, upgrades, patches, and dashboard creation.  You will be responsible for the performance and availability of Splunk by monitoring and analyzing the environment and making appropriate recommendations for improvements.  Additional responsibilities include supporting and completing scheduled deployments and participating in the 24x7 on-call rotation for the team’s production environments. 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
  • 3+ years’ Linux systems engineering experience
  • 1+ years’ experience with Perl/Python scripting
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
  • Strong detail oriented skills combined with sound problem solving and time management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced production environment
  • Must be able to effectively collaborate and work with others in a remote work environment

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Experience with SIEM and log management platforms, preferably Splunk
  • Experience engineering and supporting cloud infrastructures such as AWS and Azure
  • Windows systems engineering experience
  • Understanding of networking protocols including routing, firewalls and load balancing
